Our Pastor
Father Kosmas Morfas was born in 1995, and raised in central Indiana. During the summer before college, he felt a calling to serve the Church as a member of the clergy. He subsequently enrolled at Hellenic College Holy Cross School of Theology in Boston in the spring of 2015 as a Religious Studies major.

While at Hellenic, he met Catherine (née Alexandres), who was participating in Hellenic College’s “Semester of Faith” program during her time as a student at UCLA. The two later attended St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in New York, where they both graduated. They were married in December of 2019.
As a student at St. Vladimir’s, Fr. Kosmas led the seminary’s athletic club, the St. Demetrios Society, and was involved in the Orthodox Inter-Seminary Movement, which fosters fellowship among Orthodox seminaries.

Fr. Kosmas has served as the proistamenos (presiding priest) at Holy Ascension since 2021. He also serves as the Teen SOYO Spiritual Advisor for the Diocese of Wichita and Mid-America. When not in church, he and Kh. Catherine enjoy reading, playing sports, and hiking.
